The Rice Barn is empty!

Myanmar experienced one of it's worst floods last year. Many low lying regions were severely flooded and there were many landslides in the mountains in the Chin State. As a result, many rice crops were destroyed, causing severe shortage of rice, especially in the mountain villages in the Southern Chin State.

 

I visited the Southern Chin mountains in January and the villagers told me that many families in many villages will face shortage of rice this year. One of the Christian lady who has five young children showed me her family rice barn and told me that her rice can only last another two to three months. Then, her family will be without rice for about five months until the next harvest. I decided to give her US$100 to stock up on her rice barn. Her immediate reaction was to kneel down and thank me profusely for helping her family. I then decided to raise funds to help the families in the villages affected by the crisis.

By God's Grace and through the love and generosity of Christians here, we managed to raise enough funds to deliver about twelve tons of rice to the mountain villages in April. The long and treacherous journey from the nearest main town to the mountain took about five days to deliver by lorry

 

I thank God for delivering the much needed rice safely to them and for those who have extended a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in their time of crisis in the Southern Chin State. May God not forget their work and the love they have shown him as they have helped his people and continue to help them (Hebrews 6:10).
